Dr. Borra is experienced in corrective surgery. Patients and colleagues turn to him with confidence: even Swiss TV wanted to know about his experience on corrective mastoplastys.
What is corrective augmentation?
Corrective augmentation, technically known as secondary augmentation, corrects a problem of a previous breast surgery. Generally this surgery corrects a complication or problem of a previous breast augmentation.
Why would you want a corrective augmentation?
Capsular contracture
A capsular contracture is the formation of a scar around the breast implants that becomes harder and distorts the result of the breast augmentation.
Rupture of the implant
If your implants are broken or deformed, your breasts may have an odd shape. In this case you need to replace them and sometimes health insurance companies contribute to the intervention.
Asymmetry
After healing you realize that breasts or nipples are very different, as in size or position.
wrong size
It is possible that you have breast implants that are too small compared to your desire or too large to have a comfortable life. If you have a problem of size Dr. Borra can help.
wrong position of implants
The breasts are not all the same and a plastic surgeon with little experience or little jurisdiction might place the implants too low, too high, too close or too far apart.
What do you get from a corrective augmentation?
A surgeon who understands what you want
You have already suffered considerable trauma after the previous surgery because you were not completely satisfied with the results. Dr. Borra will listen to your requests and will explain how to solve your problem. For many years now he has dedicated himself to fix failed interventions an on this subject he has been interviewed on Swiss television.
A breast that makes you feel good
aybe your partner would like you to have bigger breasts, but you must be sure you’ll feel comfortable with the size you chose. Too large implants may give unnatural results and be hard to bear in daily life. Dr. Borra will help you choose the right implant that will make you feel natural and comfortable with your body.
``For whatever reason you are not happy with the result of a previous breast augmentation, you should have a second opinion. Usually we can give patients, already operated previously, the result that they have hoped for.``

Your corrective augmentation can be an outpatient procedure, , but it’s still an operation! After your consultation and visit to his medical office in Lugano, Dr. Borra will estimate how much time he’ll need to perform the procedure, and if you will need to be hospitalized overnight. Dr. Borra will take his time to be sure you get a balanced and beautiful result.
``Remember, the result is what really counts.``
For the best possible result, Dr. Borra will perform corrective augmentation under anesthesia.
Before surgery, you and Dr. Borra will have chosen implants deciding the type and the size that will give you the result you want. With a small incision, Dr. Borra will carefully position the implants in your breast.
Proper placement is the key to any breast augmentation
Lugano’s plastic surgeon, Dr. Luca Borra, points out that to have a perfect result the prosthesis should be positioned correctly. He will take great care to make sure that your implants will give your breasts a natural result and are well supported. By placing the implants under the pectoralis muscle with dual plane technique you will be sure that the implants will remain in the correct position, they will be more natural and they will have less chance of late complications such as capsular contracture.
Removing the outer capsule
To remove the outer capsule is always very important to clear the defects of earlier intervention. The outer capsule is a scar that forms around the prosthesis. Very often Dr. Borra moves the implants to a deeper place under the pectoral muscle.
What can you expect after surgery?
The same day
You will be constantly monitored and observed until you are able to go home. Sometimes it will be necessary to stay in the clinic overnight. Someone will have to take you home and drive. At home you will need to be assisted for a day or two. Remember to buy the medicines prescribed before surgery and keep them on hand. Please have ice packs available to put on the chest.
The first week
In the first few days your breasts will be covered with a dressing and a bra provided by the staff. One can not take a shower until the dressing is removed. Do not lift anything heavier than 10 kg. Do not do exercises, but if you feel like walking you can do so. Usually four days after surgery Dr. Borra takes away the dressing and you will see your new breasts for the first time. A bit of burning and itching are normal. The prostheses may seem a little high, but in a few weeks will reach the final result.
Ten days
After a week, most patients return to work, wearing the bra prescribed by Dr. Borra exactly as he has indicated, so that the breast heals well and the prosthesis position is correct. For a few weeks you will still have to be careful not to stain yourself or lifting heavy weights.
3-6 months
You’ll see yourself beautiful. All burning and itching should be gone and the scars will be less visible. The implants should be well positioned and you will be able to do business as usual.
